They may qualify for Social Security but I don't think they would get much especially in New York where I believe rent is high. Probably just enough for food and transportation (if they have a car). -

Wanted to Share a Watchtower Quote with you
by FusionTheism injust thought this was interesting and wanted to see all of your thoughts and opinions on it.. watchtower, november 15, 2014, simplified study edition, pages 11-12:.
9 let us examine the words of three brothers who for many years have worked closely with members of the governing body.
one brother mentioned: while this has indeed been a unique privilege of service, the close association has from time to time revealed that, although spirit anointed, these brothers are imperfect.

FusionTheism,
"...the close association has from time to time revealed that, although spirit anointed, these brothers are imperfect"
I've noticed that they're using mock humility lately.

By “evolution,” we mean “macroevolution”—apes turning into humans, for example.
by FadingTruth inaugust 2015 awake .
quote in title taken from article footnote.. anyone have information on who gene hwang and yan-der hsuuw in the article are?.
why do they repeatedly state that apes turned to humans when that's not what evolutionists teach at all?.

Why do they repeatedly state that apes turned to humans when that's not what evolutionists teach at all?
Indeed. Any "ape" in our evolutionary tree dates from 3 million years ago, let's say Australopithecine Afarensis. Anything after that would be in the lineage of Homo.

I got this one right but I didn't agree with it:
"No one makes a drastic change in their identity, personality, and values unless they have experienced some kind of abuse or trauma that caused changes in their brain. Those who emerge from having been brainwashed have survived a traumatic experience."
I got this one wrong and I don't agree with it. Why should we consider ourselves to having been coerced?
"Brainwashing uses coercive persuasion to cause a non-agreeing person to believe in something they previously did not want to believe."
PS: I got 18 out of 21.

During the Bethel purges in 1980 the rumor was that the disfellowshipped ones were gay. Of course, the real reason was apostasy.
As for me the rumor was that I was df'd for reading apostate literature. Actually I didn't read such literature until after I was dif'd.

Rutherford, Knorr or Franz - Who has the most influence on doctrine & process now?
by konceptual99 inso, i was thinking - who of the above still has the most influence on current wts doctrine and dogma?.
rutherford obviously created the smokescreen around 1914/607 but overall his work has been superseded i would suggest.. knorr created the various schools and they or their offspring still live on.
wasn't it during his tenure that all the blood doctrine, types/anti types (now chucked away of course), transplants etc came along?

Russell was the Karl Marx of the organization. Rutherford was the one who militarized them. Knorr was more of a bureaucrat. Franz was the brains. -

SimonSays,
From the above list, I would say The God of Abraham, Jacob, and Isaac along with Jesus.

THIS IS WHAT WITNESSING HAS BEEN REDUCED TO IN 2015
by steve2 inthreads on the newer jw face of public "witnessing" have shared in common the astonishment that jws safely park themselves behind their literature trolleys and exercise incredibly little contact with passersby.
whether the poster is talking about europe or the united states or australia, descriptions here are the same.. literature stands are protective sheilds behind which jws huddle, talking to each other, sipping on their espressos, whilst the disinterested world passes by.
neither the jws nor the passersby catch each others eyes.

For JWs with at least a grain of knowledge:
I say: What is the biblical foundation for 1914? (Don't ever bring up 607 versus 587!)
He/she says: Nebuchadnezzar's dream where a tree was cut down and the King of Babylon turned insane.
I say: So when did the king of Babylon regain his insanity? During the 7 years or after it?
He/she says: Afterwards, of course.
I say: So If the King regained his insanity after the 2520 days then why have the nations, whom he symbolizes, not gained their sanity after the 2520 years but have only become worse?
